First Sunday in Advent

Advent refers to the coming of Christ in three ways; the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth, the coming of Christ in our daily lives through the Sacrament of Holy Communion and His Second Coming at the end of time.

Advent is such a special time of preparation for the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. There is so much to accomplish in just a short time, that often the meaning of Christmas gets lost behind the decorations, baking, and shopping. Advent is the perfect season to engage young children and older ones in the true value of anticipating Christmas morning. Through Advent, we can teach our kids patience and the importance of giving as they dream about opening gifts under the tree.

Today we light the first purple candle.  The candle of HOPE reminding us that Jesus is coming.

It is the beginning our Advent collection of items for those in need at FAMSAC and in our commuity.
