Vision Screening for SK Students

Dear Parents/Guardians:  Ottawa Public Health staff will provide vision screenings for Senior Kindergarten students on September 26.*    The vision screening is a series of short tests to detect if a child has risk factors for eye problems. All children screened will bring home a report.   Children from other grades may be screened at the request of a teacher.   To learn more about the school vision screening, watch  THE VISION SCREENING DOES NOT REPLACE REGULAR COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAMS WITH AN OPTOMETRIST.    These screenings are provided in accordance with the Ontario Public Health Standards established by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Personal and personal health information collected during the screenings will be used for the purposes of delivering, administering and managing screening services, and for statistical purposes, as provided for under Sections 5 and 7 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act (as amended) and the Ontario Public Health Standards (2018). Information may be used by and shared among authorized Ottawa Public Health employees who provide vision screening services.
